Politifact confirmed the ranking in the CIA World Factbook,
but pointed out that most of the countries that“outrank” the U. S.
To put that into perspective, Politifact reports that 301,797 people have died
from gun violence in the US over a similar period.
Trump's assertion that Christians have a harder time winning
asylum in the US than do Muslims is rated by Politifact as false.
Both Politifact and Snopes indicated that their discontent with the company was
more focused on the lack of transparency within the fact-checking program itself.
Or maybe it's more a sign of
how broken the education system is that Politifact actually had to go out
and fact-check whether the White House was built by slaves after first lady Michelle Obama mentioned that fact during her rousing speech at the Democratic National Convention.
