was the first Indian woman to fly an aircraft.
Sarla Devi represents 83.6% of Sitapur's girls(aged 15-19)
who give up their education for housework and marriage.
However, her strong passion for theatre continues and
she is currently part of the acclaimed production'Sir Sir Sarla'.
Since her mother could no longer care for her family of six, Sarla Devi dropped out of school to help.
To educate her eight children, Sarla Devi established a private school on the lines of the Montessori method,
propounded by Maria Montessori, which was gaining fame.

she teaches at a college to ensure that her mother Sarla's meager earnings from the'Kumkum Bhagya' marriage
hall never fall short in making the two ends meet.
