In the Southern Hemisphere, most coniferous trees(members of the Araucariaceae and Podocarpaceae)
occur in mixtures with Broadleaf species, and are classed as Broadleaf and mixed forests.
Biomes are defined based on factors such as plant structures(such as trees, shrubs, and grasses),
leaf types(such as Broadleaf and needleleaf), plant spacing(forest, woodland, savanna), and climate.
The trails are open from mid-May to the end of October(depending on conditions), but the best time to go is in
the autumn, when the crisp air keeps you cool and you can admire the glorious autumnal colours of Vermont's Broadleaf trees.
