Management of Trichomonas vaginalis;
Trichomonas vaginalis was first identified in 1836 by Alfred Donné.
It identifies Trichomonas, if they are present in the urethra.
Trichomonas and bacterial vaginosis also give a more
alkaline result on pH testing(pH>4.5).
Having Trichomonas once does not protect a person from getting it again.
Having Trichomonas once does not prevent a person from getting it again.
Culprits" of the disease are such bacteria as staphylococcus, E. coli, Trichomonas, streptococci, Candida, etc.
Studies suggest that 4-5% of Trichomonas cases are resistant to metronidazole,
which may account for some“repeat” cases.
Sometimes the doctor does not see Trichomonas, because she does not get into the sample,
or in the field of view of the microscope.
Therefore, in the case when there are reasons to suspect the presence of Trichomonas in the structures of the urogenital tract, additional research is required.
