Hundreds of years before the Aryan entry, here flourished a high- class culture,
a sample of which we get at Mohenjodaro.
But in the first quarter of this century the excavations made by the Archaeological
Department of India at Harappa in west Punjab and Mohenjodaro in Sind led to the startling discovery that much earlier than that,
in the bronze age, there existed in the valley of the Indus a fairly advanced urban civilisation.
