Medo- persia - the fourth head.
These were Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Medo- Persia, and Greece.
The Medo- Persian king gave that order
in 455 B.C. E.
These were Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Medo- Persia, Greece, and Rome.
Medo- Persia, therefore, is fittingly depicted as the
fourth head of the beast of Revelation.
They are Babylon, Medo- Persia,
Greece, Rome - and the last, in our time, another world power.
That very night, the Medo- Persian army conquered Babylon, and
Belshazzar was killed. - Daniel 5: 30, 31.
That leader was Cyrus the Persian. Daniel received two other visions regarding the Medo- Persian World Power.
Jehovah used the Medo- Persian Empire to fulfill prophecy by overthrowing Babylon
and restoring the Israelites to their homeland.
As we saw in the preceding article, the first six heads of the beast
represent Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Medo- Persia, Greece, and Rome.
Two years later, Daniel has a vision that involves Medo- Persia, Greece, and
an entity that becomes“ a king fierce in countenance.” - Daniel 8: 23.
The Medo- Persian Empire, represented by the silver part of the image, was inferior to Babylon, the head of gold, in that
it did not have the distinction of toppling Judah.
Like a speedy, winged leopard, Alexander came out of Greece to conquer Asia Minor( modern- day Turkey), Palestine,
Egypt, and the Medo- Persian empire all the way to the edge of India.
Thus, during Rome's rule the angel could say about these world powers:“ And there are seven kings: five have fallen[ Egypt, Assyria,
Babylon, Medo- Persia,
and Greece], one is[ Rome], the other[ Anglo- America] has not yet arrived.” - Revelation 17: 10.
