Should it be a mastectomy? Should it be a Lumpectomy?
Lumpectomy This process only removes suspected or cancerous premises,
which removes most nearby tissues.
The recovery period for
a full mastectomy and reconstruction former is generally significantly more involved than that required for a Lumpectomy.
Among the patients who had both a Lumpectomy and a later mastectomy,
22 percent felt that making a quick decision was important.
After getting a mammogram, ultrasound, biopsy, and eventually a Lumpectomy, Bush knows for sure that men do have breasts-
and they can get breast cancer, like he did.
Some women have reconstructive breast surgery as part of the same procedure as the mastectomy or major Lumpectomy, while others wait
and have the option to undergo a second operation at a later date.
The result:
Only 47 percent of women who would undergone Lumpectomy felt completely informed about their treatment decisions,
compared with 67 percent of women who would had a mastectomy and 28 percent who would had a Lumpectomy and later went on to have a mastectomy.
In the first study, 487 women who had already completed breast cancer treatment and had undergone Lumpectomy, mastectomy, or
both were surveyed about their decision-making process, such as the decision to have a Lumpectomy or a mastectomy as well as decisions related
to breast reconstructive surgery.
