so far this year.

According to the new data from the National Institute for Space Research[Inpe], Amazon forest fire have
been on a record high this year.
The surge marks an 83 percent increase over the same period last year and
is the highest since Inpe records began in 2013.
It has been reported that

it seems that the present government has criticized the penalties, convictions for environmental crimes and encouraged the exploitation of the rainforest.

The Inpe researcher considers that deforestation,
