Dasilva had gone only on his mother's advice as well.
Dasilva acknowledges that Cook can't be his only
caregiver now that they have Jase.
One time Dasilva fell on the floor
and Cook didn't know how to get him back up.
Her husband, filmmaker Jason Dasilva, had been diagnosed with primary progressive
MS several years before they met.
They were married a year later, in September 2010, where Dasilva said his vows from his wheelchair.
Before Jase was born, Cook was responsible for many of of Dasilva's day-to-day MS management and caregiving needs.
In addition, because he has difficulty moving his hands, Dasilva also needs help eating, and Cook
was there to feed him.
One of Dasilva's current projects is to map wheelchair
accessibility of buildings and other places in different neighborhoods and share that information with others.
At the meeting, Dasilva asked Cook,
who he thought was cute, for her phone number“so we could talk about MS, of course,” he says in“When I Walk,” the documentary he made about his life with MS. Dasilva called Cook the next day and asked her to dinner.
