At the end of the American Civil War, however, Philip Danforth Armour opened a meat packing plant in Chicago,
which became known as Armour and Company, and with the expansion of the meat packing industry, the demand for beef increased significantly.
It is home to a vibrant arts community with a a variety of independent art galleries along Queen Street,
the world famous Danforth with an endless variety of top end international cuisine
and East Chinatown with its eclectic and unique Asian shops and amazing restaurants.
