Asahel was buried in his father's tomb.
Art thou Asahel? And he answered, I am.
and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan,
Later, Asahel's son Zebadiah took his place as commander.
Asahel the brother of Joab was one of the thirty;
Jehiel, and Azaziah, and Nahath, and Asahel, and Jerimoth, and Jozabad,
Also the mighty men of the armies: Asahel the brother of Joab,
because he had slain their brother Asahel at Gibeon in the battle.
because he had killed their brother Asahel at Gibeon in the battle.
And Jehiel, and Azaziah, and Nahath, and Asahel, and Jerimoth, and Jozabad,
They took up Asahel, and buried him in the tomb of his father,
Then Abner looked behind him, and said,"Is it you, Asahel?" He answered,"It is I.
Now the three sons of Zeruiah were in that place: Joab,
and Abishai, and Asahel.
And they took up Asahel, and buried him in the sepulchre of his father,
Then Abner looked behind him, and said, Art thou Asahel? And he answered, I am.
and take thee his armour. But Asahel would not turn aside from following of him.
And Asahel was a very swift runner,
like one of the deer that lives in the forest.
Only Jonathan the son of Asahel and Jahzeiah the son of Tikvah stood up against this;
that as many as came to the place where Asahel fell down and died stood still.
Asahel the brother of Joab was one of the thirty; Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem.
Only Jonathan the son of Asahel and Jahaziah the son of Tikvah were employed about this matter:
And with them the Levites, even Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan,
Among the thirty were: Asahel, the brother of Joab, Elhanan, the son of his paternal uncle, from Bethlehem,
Also the mighty men of the armies: Asahel the brother of Joab, Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem.
So Joab and Abishai his brother slew Abner,
because he had slain their brother Asahel at Gibeon in the battle.
So Joab and Abishai his brother killed Abner,
because he had killed their brother Asahel at Gibeon in the battle.
Asahel pursued after Abner; and in going
he didn't turn to the right hand nor to the left from following Abner.
Joab returned from following Abner: and when he had gathered all the people together,
there lacked of David's servants nineteen men and Asahel.
Only Jonathan the son of Asahel and Jahzeiah the son of Tikvah stood up against this;
and Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite helped them.
And Joab returned from following Abner: and when he had gathered all the people together,
there lacked of David's servants nineteen men and Asahel.
