A. taurica has white flowers, on stems 1 to 2 feet high.
Golden Drop (Onosma) - O. taurica is an evergreen perennial, 6 to 12 inches high, soon forming dense tufts, and bearing in summer drooping clusters of clear yellow almond-scented blossoms.
In ancient geography the Chersonesus Thracica, Chersonesus Taurica or Scythica, and Chersonesus Cimbrica correspond to the peninsulas of the Dardanelles, the Crimea and Jutland; and the Golden Chersonese is usually identified with the peninsula of Malacca.
In the Taurian variety, S. b. taurica, the flowers are much larger than in S. bifolia, and, with the exception of the white base, greatly resemble those of some of the forms of Chiondoxa Lucilioe.
Scholars differ as to whether Artemis Taurica is identical with Artemis Tauropolos, worshipped chiefly at Samos with a milder ritual, but it is more probable that Tavp07r6Xos simply means "protectress of bulls."
The custom of flogging youths at the altar of Artemis Orthia 1 at Limnaeum in Laconia, and the legend of Iphigeneia, herself another form of Artemis, connected with Artemis Taurica of the Tauric Chersonese, are usually supposed to point to early human sacrifice (but see Farnell).
The white form of S. b. taurica is very scarce.
