The anticonvulsant carbamazepine is the first line treatment;
second line medications include baclofen, Lamotrigine, oxcarbazepine, phenytoin, gabapentin and pregabalin.
If you are taking an anti-epilepsy medicine which is not a liver enzyme inducer then your contraceptive choices, doses, etc,
are usually the same as for any other women(although see below about Lamotrigine).
Also Lamotrigine which has a specific safety warning-
there is an increased risk of seizure whilst taking the COC pill with Lamotrigine, and a risk of toxicity during the pill-free week, when levels rise.
