King Kansa ruled the Yadava province“Mathura”
and a prophecy predicted the death of the king by the eight sons born to his sister.
This is the occasion when Lord Krishna was born to kill Kansa and other demons and thus had
saved the people from a great danger.
He could bring the girl back with him because the next morning Kansa would be there asking,"Where is the child?"
and planning to kill him?
Even before European settlers arrived on the scene, the Kansa people didn't know what their own name
meant because the word was so old with the meaning long forgotten.
Through the course of his life he went on to kill many demons and safeguard the people, and eventually, as the prophecy had said,
kill Kansa to regain his kingdom.
