Herath gets Sri Lanka closer to victory.
Rohit Chase(38) trapped Herath in the hands of Mathews.
After the match, Herath said that it was"the right time" to retire,
finishing his career with 433 Test wickets, the most for a left-arm spin bowler.
Of the 92 Tests Herath has played so far,
22 of them came in the period between his debut and July 2010- the time when Muralitharan retired.
In less than eight years since the retirement, Herath has featured in 70 of the 81 Tests
that Sri Lanka have played, and has picked 359 wickets at 25.98.
Herath, 40, was expected to bow out at the conclusion of England's three-Test tour,
but he will now call it quits from international cricket at the same ground where he made his Test debut against Australia in 1999.
