Enucleation of the Eye- Removal of the eye,
but the muscles and eyelids are left intact.
Many people who undergo eye Enucleation surgery experience anxiety about their physical appearance,
and depression is not uncommon.
As with any surgery, eye Enucleation carries certain risks,
and your doctor should discuss these risks with you.
In some cases Enucleation may be the only solution to chronic,
idiopathic eye pain(i.e., pain that has no discernible cause).
Enucleation- the removal of the entire injured eyeball-
will be considered if the sight in the injured eye has been irretrievably lost.
In the event that vision is lost and
the eye becomes chronically painful, Enucleation(removal of the globe) may have to be considered.
Enucleation: In some cases,
if the tumor has destroyed the sight in the eye, the best treatment may be to remove the affected eye.
Losing an eye, undergoing Enucleation surgery, and
being fitted with and wearing a glass eye can be an emotionally traumatic experience, requiring a significant psychological(as well as physical) healing period.
Anyone who undergoes Enucleation and wears a glass eye should purchase
eyeglasses with impact-resistant polycarbonate lenses and wear these glasses at all times after surgery to protect his or her remaining natural eye.
