They include the Brokpa, Lepcha, and Doya tribes as well
as the descendants of slaves who were brought to Bhutan from similar tribal areas in India.
While this is not a new breed, the Brokpa, a semi-nomadic pastoral community, have been adding more of these animals to their herds in recent
times- to adapt to the changing climate in the eastern Himalayas.
