The dose is 2 to 5 grains, that of aloin being z to 2 grains.

Aloin is preferable to aloes for therapeutic purposes, as it causes less, if any, pain.

A few of them, such as aloin and colocynthin, are also purgative when injected subcutaneously or into the blood, probably owing to their being excreted into the intestinal canal.

Aloin is a strong laxative which for obvious reasons is not wanted in the product.
