It does not in any way prevent Ahmadis, Hazaras, Baloch or any other denominations and ethnicities,
from these same three countries, seeking citizenship through regular processes.
If religious persecution was the logic presented in the bill, then why were refugees such as Rohingyas from Myanmar or Hindu or
Muslim Tamils from Sri Lanka or Ahmadis from Pakistan left out? they asked.
The Second Constitutional Amendment in Pakistan declared the Ahmadis to be“non-Muslims”
and their penal code makes it criminal for Ahmadis to refer to themselves as Muslims, and places restrictions on the community including denying it the right to vote.
