Kids teach AI a little humanity with Cognimates.
Creating Cognimates was the result of this preliminary research.
So Cognimates was a natural extension of this tradition in her research group.
The main goal of the Cognimates platform is to extend coding to AI education
and literacy.
With our Cognimates Extensions we allow them to build games that learn
over time as they are playing them.
Our goal is to enable children and parents from various communities around the world to collaborate and share their Cognimates projects.
The Cognimates platform aims to achieve that by allowing children to program
and customize embodied intelligent devices, such as Alexa and the smart robot Cozmo.
So far we have been testing Cognimates with more than 150 children in four countries since I built
the first version of the platform in beginning of the year.
By the end of my thesis studies, I would discovered how 107 children(7- 14 years old) from four countries developed a better understanding of AI
concepts and changed their perception of smart agents by programming and teaching them with the Cognimates platform.
As a Media Lab student, I believe that the best way to achieve critical understanding of something is to build or program it, and I want to provide families the option to do that with their smart toys and devices-
and that's why I created Cognimates.
