Another myth we explored was‘work addiction and Workaholism are the same thing'.
Perfectionism and Workaholism are labor addictions,
that is, an uncontrollable need for activity.

In short,‘work addiction' is a psychological construct while‘Workaholism' is arguably a more generic term.
It justifies Workaholism and reinforces the time is money scheme
we have all been led to believe.

Today, quite a few scientists agreed on the view that Workaholism has a negative effect on human health.
In the U.S., and Canada Workaholism remains what it's always been:
the so-called“respectable addiction” that's dangerous as any other.

little or no vacation time and 24/7 availability for work communication;
Insomnia, forgetfulness, irritability, constant mood swings from
bright euphoria to a deep depressive state are considered as symptoms of Workaholism.
Three is the number of Workaholism where you feel you have lost your spouse to his or her job.
Even after controlling for the effects of long working hours, Workaholism will have a significant direct effect on work-life conflict.
In previous studies(including some of my own- see‘Further reading' below), Workaholism has been shown to be a relatively
stable entity over time.
The concept of the‘Enjoyment of Work' subscale has
been criticized by many researchers because it is not regarded as defining the characteristics of Workaholism.
