In the 18th century, Piranesi, Tiepolo and Daniel Chodowiecki were the best of a smaller
number of fine etchers.
Tiepolo is a representative of the Rococo style and,
probably, the last major artist of the Venetian school of painting.
Some opulent reception rooms and royal apartments are now open to the public, but the most impressive sight is in the cavernous entrance hall, where a grand staircase virtually screaming for imperious, orchestra-accompanied ascents leads to a landing
under the world's largest fresco, a depiction of the four corners of the globe painted by Tiepolo.
