For protection from the evil eye and from other misfortunes, Muslims use both duas and Suras.
Say:“Then bring ten forged Suras like it, and call upon whom you can besides God, if you are truthful.”.
Suras are classified as Meccan or Medinan, depending
on whether the verses were revealed before or after the migration of Muhammad.
Or they may say,"He
forged it," Say,"Bring ye then ten Suras forged, like unto it,
and call(to your aid) whomsoever ye can, other than Allah!- If ye speak the truth!
Or do they say,'He has forged it'? Say:
'Then bring you ten Suras the like of it, forged; and call upon whom you are able, apart from God, if you speak truly.
Most Suras were in use amongst early Muslims since they are
mentioned in numerous sayings by both Sunni and Shia sources, relating Muhammad's use of the Quran as a call to Islam, the making of prayer and the manner of recitation.
