    And how Shouldst thou bear patiently that thou hast never encompassed in thy knowledge?

    Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou Shouldst not eat?

    Fain would they that thou Shouldst be pliant, so that they will be pliant.

    What is man that thou Shouldst remember him, mortal man that thou Shouldst care for him?

    If thou Shouldst ask them: Who created the heavens and the earth? they would answer: Allah. Say: Praise be to Allah! But most of them know not.

    I desire that thou Shouldst be laden with my sin and thy sin, and so become an inhabitant of the Fire; that is the recompense of evil-doers.'.

    Eat therefore, and drink, and be comforted; and if thou Shouldst see any mortal, say,"I have vowed to the All-merciful a fast, and today I will not speak to any man.

    Shouldst thou question them, they will surely say:: we were only plunging about and playing. Say thou: was it Allah and His signs and His apostle that ye have been mocking?

    Lo! I would rather thou Shouldst bear the punishment of the sin against me and thine own sin and become one of the owners of the fire. That is the reward of evil-doers.

    And verily they had well-nigh tempted thee away from that which We have revealed unto thee, that thou Shouldst fabricate regarding something else; and then surely they would have taken thee as a friend!

    Allah said: what prevented thee, that thou Shouldst not prostrate thyself, when I bade thee? He said. I am better than he; me Thou createdest me from fire, and him Thou createdest from clay.

    And they indeed strove hard to beguile thee(Muhammad) away from that wherewith We have inspired thee, that thou Shouldst invent other than it against Us; and then would they have accepted thee as a friend.

    Thus have We revealed it, a decisive utterance in Arabic; and if thou Shouldst follow their desires after that which hath come unto thee of knowledge, then truly wouldst thou have from Allah no protecting friend nor defender.

    And We sent down the Book to thee for the express purpose, that thou Shouldst make clear to them those things in which they differ, and that it should be a guide and a mercy to those who believe.

    I wish that thou Shouldst bear the punishment of the sin against me as well as of thine own sin, and thus be among the inmates of the Fire, and that is the recompense of those who do wrong'.

    Send not away those who call on their Lord morning and evening, seeking His face. In naught art thou accountable for them, and in naught are they accountable for thee, that thou Shouldst turn them away, and thus be(one) of the unjust.

    And Shouldst thou bring unto those who are vouchsafed the Book every sign, they would not follow thy Qiblah, neither art thou to be a follower of their Qiblah; nor doth one part of them follow the Qiblah of the other. And Shouldst thou follow their desires, after that which hath come unto thee of the knowledge, then verily thou wilt become one of the wrong-doers.
