Phra Phutthayotfa Chulalok(Thai: พระพุทธยอดฟ้าจุฬาโลก), born Thongduang(Thai: ทองด้วง) and also known as Rama I(20 March 1737- 7 September 1809),
was the founder of Rattanakosin Kingdom and the first monarch of the reigning
Chakri dynasty of Siam now Thailand.
Bangkok traces its roots as a small trading post during the Ayutthaya Kingdom in the 15th century, which eventually grew in size and became the site of two capital cities:
Thonburi in 1768 and Rattanakosin in 1782.
