On 30 May, Parsekar had sparked a controversy by saying in Panaji that"in general,
people are angry with Nigerians and not other foreigners.
Parsekar, however, said there might be one
or two incidents involving a few Nigerians but for that a generalised opinion cannot be formed.
Then, after 14 years of being a former general secretary and spokesperson of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee, Wagh joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on 30 October 2011, in the presence of senior BJP leaders-
Laxmikant Parsekar, MP Shripad Naik, and Manohar Parrikar.
Shri Laxmikant Parsekar announced that signing the MoU was a milestone
for Goa as it would not only benefit the state in the fields of tourism, culture and education, but transform Goa into a state that is known, identified, recognized, and accepted as IT-friendly.
