Many psychotropic medications, such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors(SSRIs),
monoamine oxidase inhibitors(Maois), and tricyclic antidepressants, can cause hyperthermia.
There are several groups of anti-depressant medicines such as tricyclic anti-depressant,
monoamine oxidase inhibitors(Maois), lithium and selective serotonin receptor inhibitors(SSRI).
The US FDA has
placed a black box warning on some SSRIs, Maois, and TCAs advising of a potential increased risk of suicidal thoughts
and behavior in teens and young adults aged 18 to 24 within the first initial 2 months of treatment.
