Ippb launched its pilot services in Raipur and Ranchi in January 2017.
Ippb will set up 650 branches across the country by September 2017.

Ippb also has permission to link around 17-crore postal savings bank(PSB)
accounts with its own setup.
However, with the launch, the Ippb will become one of the largest banking networks in India.
Ippb accounts do not come with an ATM card
and so one cannot withdraw cash from ATMs.

Narendra Modi's plan, India Post Payments Bank(Ippb) will soon launch its 650 branches.
Ippb will issue new QR(Quick-Response)
cards which work on biometric authentication and not on passwords or PINs.
Telecom Minister Manoj Sinha said that Ippb plans to have 650 branches across the country by September 2017.
Ippb is governed by Reserve Bank of India
and banking service of post offices comes under the finance ministry.
Ippb's services are now available across more
than 136,000 Post Offices and delivered by over 195,000 Postmen and GDSs.
Ippb would have 3,250 access points co-located at post offices and
around 11,000 postmen both in rural and urban area.

and assist India's growth but will also increase employment opportunities and empower the poor.

As per plan, all 1.55 lakh post
offices in the country will be linked to the Ippb system by December 31.
The government plans to link all the
1.55 lakh post office branches with Ippb services by the end of this year.
Ippb's services are now available across more
than 136,000 Post Offices and delivered by over 195,000 postmen and Grameen Dak Sevaks(GDS).
All the 1.55 lakh Post
Offices in the country will be linked to the Ippb system by the 31st of December this year.
Referring to 440 Central schemes on-boarded to the DBT platform,
Shri Prasad said that all these schemes must ride on Ippb platform too.
This would ensure that micro-merchants are able to accept payments over any channel- online,
unified payments interface(UPI), quick-response(QR) codes, Aadhaar and Ippb accounts.
