Commonwealth GamesApurvi Chandela.
Chandela is among the five Indian shooters to have secured
2020 Olympics quotas for the country.
It is a group of Hindu temples and Jain temples built between 950 and
1050 by the Chandela dynasty.
The beneficence of these temples goes to the Chandela rulers who between the 950 and 1050 AD constructed these temples.
In the 1800s, there were three separate rulers of Sidhi,
ruling three parts of the territory: The Chandela rulers from Bardi Khatai.
In front of her friends and family, the Chandela family girl shot a score of 206.7
in the final to clinch her first Gold for the country.
Chandela and Kumar, who were participating in the 10m Air
Rifle Mixed Team event, got eliminated in the penultimate stage which meant a bronze medal for India.
Chandela's success in South Korea meant that it was
the first time that two of India's shooters in the same category qualified for the Olympics at one competition.
The temples were built over a
period of 100 years followed with a belief that each Chandela ruler built at least one temple in the complex during his lifetime.
In fact, in the Mixed Air Rifle,
it was an all India gold medal match and Apurvi Chandela and Deepak Kumar landed the country its lone silver,
going down to their compatriots 2-16.
The current top-ranked shooter in
the women's air rifle category, Apurvi Chandela also made her mark at the same competition as Moudgil, as
she finished in fourth place with a score of 207 in the women's 10m Air Rifle final to pocket an Olympic berth.
